history of the I.R.A

This blog was written because when listening to a song on youtube (Ballad of Maired Farrell)I read some ignorant comments from some British trash. Clearly lacking in both facts and class,bragging about the U.V.F.(Ulster volunteer force ) and the U.D.A. (Ulster Defense Association) talking shit about great patriot Bobby Sands. So, for my uninformed friend and all others who want to know the facts on the I.R.A. and Northern Ireland here it is.
The I.R.A. started out of the Irish Nationalist who fought for home rule 1916-1923 .About half the Irish nationalist agreed to fight with the British in WWI stopping the fighting Ireland. A small group launched Easter uprising ( trying to free Ireland)during WW1 .Widely denounced by the Irish ,who many had family fighting with British troops in WW1 blamed them for death of innocents and damage to city ,spat on and even stone them and called for there execution. Irish opinion changed over the next few years due to the inhumane treatment and drawn out execution or these men(many of them so sick unable to stand by time of their executions). Along with the conscription crisis ,Britain's attempt to impose conscription to bolster its war effort.Leading to a Brake what had been an even split between two political parties in Ireland ,to strong favor for Sinn Fein .Sinn Fein in landslide victory won 25 out of 73 seats in British Parliament .Sinn Fein then withdrew from British parliament declaring Irish Republic with themselves as Legitimate government. The I.R.A. was born 100,000 strong. They fought for free Ireland Until treaty was signed separating Ireland into north and south.
In 1969 the P.I.R.A. was born(Up the ra),Out of want for United Ireland and in defense of the catholic minority (who where badly mistreated),and to counter the U.V.F The first to carry out attacks in Northern Ireland was the U.V.F. with the sectarian murders of catholic barmen in June 1966. 4 years later June 27 1970 the U.V.F. ,backed by over 3,000 Loyalist rioters attempted to overrun a small catholic enclave Short Strand. the P.I.R.A use firearms for the first time killing 5 Loyalist in defense of short stand .The internment that followed had 350 people arrested 348 or 99% catholic in a state with a population only 35% catholic .
Bloody Sunday Jan 1972 in retaliation for I.R.A attacks British soldiers opened fire on peaceful protest killing 14 unarmed civilians.Sparked fighting in lower fals. the 3 day curfew to search for weapons use in the fighting was imposed and the fighting that followed British soldiers killed 4 unarmed civilians .In the week that followed 13 British soldiers where killed ending a two week truce .the provos (P.I.R.A.)in it largest operations to date hitting British investment for millions of pounds in just a few day with virtually no civilian casualty due to warning given by I,R.A before attacks . Until black Friday July 21st 1972 when 21 I.R.A. bombs rocked Belfast killing 9 civilians .British claimed no warnings given for these attacks and used it to call I.R.A. terrorist, this was untrue the London Sunday Times reported warnings where given for all sites one hour prior to attacks. Why these warning where not passed on no one knows .
Now just for you, my ignorant friend ,Bobby Sands believed to be part of bombing (never convicted due to lack of evidence ) was arrested for possession of fire arm. when the gun used to shoot police officer in the bombing was found in car he was in.wanted to be treated as political prisoner not criminal.asking only 5 demands they were to not wear prison uniforms, not have to do prison work ,the right to visit other prisoners ,organize their own recreation and education ,to be able to send and receive one package one letter a week.the rights of a political prisoner .spurred on by the blanket protest and the dirty protest where I.R.A and other political prisoners used refused to wear prison uniforms and wore blankets instead ,this lead to the beatings and other poor conditions lead to dirty protest where Irish prisoners where in lock down many with no toilets refused to leave their cell in fear of beatings .(I.R.A kill 19 British prison guards during the dirty protest for the inhumane treatment of the prisoners).bobby sand voted leader of I.R.A in H block started a hunger strike for his 5 demands .the Irish people in support of bobby sands voted him into British parliament as the anti H block candidate believing this would force thatcher to give in to his demands and save his life . three Weeks later bobby sands died of starvation Oct. 3 1980, ten other men gave their lives by the end of the hunger strike Oct 27,1980. I.R.A members that died in hunger strike where Brendon Hughes ,Tommy McKearneyandand Ray Mc Cartney.Bobby Sands funeral was the largest in Ireland's history .
Maired Farrell also part of the dirty protest and hunger strike after her release from prison( for failed bombing attempt),She was shot in Gibraltar by sas attack team who got intelligence that her and her party Sean Savage daniel McCann were going to bomb the British army band, shooting her 8 times killing her (witness say she was trying to surrender) .no bombs or fuses ,or detonating devices found on them (not sure but think no weapons either) . A key found on Maired started and investigation that lead to finding some bombs month later .When the Gibraltar 3, as they became known, returned home to Ireland at their funeral Loyalist Michael Stene with grenades and gunfire killed three people in what became known as milltown massacre.
I'll end with some facts for you to chew on . In 1978 British found guilty of war crimes including unlawful killings and inhumane and degrading treatment of POW .the U.V.f and U.D.A. stop operation's in 1994 after I.R.A killed many of their top leaders. The I.R.A wiped out the U.V.F. everywhere but Belfast city.most estimates say as many as 15% of British U.D.R. soldiers where also part of loyalist murder gangs . less then 31% I.R.A casualties where civilian. this includes the prison guards killed in dirty protest politicians and British Royalty as civilians .British army 60% killed where innocent ,loyalist paramilitary groups 85.9 % killed where innocent .The U.V.F only managed to kill 12 I.R.A in 28 years of fighting killing 358 innocent 41 other loyalist and 6 British soldiers .in 2007The British army stated it could not beat the I.R.A must find political solution . that same year army report stated I.R.A well trained organized and dedicated professionals . in same report said the U.V.F. was a collection of drug dealers and gangsters .After stating it would never negotiate with the I.R.A. the British met with I.R.A in 1972,1975,1982,1994 and 1998.
. So Tell me again about how great your U.V.F. and that the I.R.A are terrorist you idiot . the facts are with me and the I.R.A . I hope a free Ireland can be achieved By the peaceful path the country is taking since the latest changes to the constitution has united Ireland . until Ireland is free I say decommission the I.R.A. no way ,the I.R.A has been the main cause for change in Northern Ireland without the I.R.A the British will never leave Ireland their wallets will always be more important then the Irish people . In peaceful talks the I.R.A is still important tool, pray for peace be ready for war , long live the provos ! Up the ra . so my ignorant friend, I hope you learned little something about the state funded terror and murder groups you where bragging so much about .And about the hero's and patriots of the I.R.A .

Is a racist or a liar really better than a republican

O.K. I'll start by saying I'm an independent that is very disturbed with the way we are letting party politics destroy our country. The democrats are so determined to elect a Democrat for president that they would gladly elect Obama, who will not even pledge allegiance to our flag. His wife, "finally, I'm proud of my country". Associated with anti-american racist Rev wright. Or Hillary, who has taken money from terror groups, lies about her part in peace talks in Ireland and being under gunfire in Bosnia. Republicans are not any better. They have back room deals to line their pockets; force feeding us religion; have all proven their willingness to back their party at all costs!
Never before has this country had such a poor pool to choose from. Our fore fathers are rolling in their graves at what we are doing to their great country. It's our fault allowing the media to force feed us their left or right spin on the news not demanding facts not opinions, both side of every issue. Blindly following party politics, even when we should not. Voting for people who lack honesty and integrity so the other party will not win. Are we that lazy, or that stupid that we do not seek the facts and decide for ourselves!
Government of the people, by the people, for the people. Last time I checked, that meant we elect politicians to voice our opinions, not decide for us. When they vote, they vote our opinions ( the majority of their voters) not their own. When their performance and character falls, so should our support for them. We need to hold them to campaign promises, stop the back room deals, and make them ask our opinions on big issues. These are the people representing us at home and to the world. We need to hold them to a higher standard. As their quality falls, so does our counrty!!
